Shanghai GM, a joint venture between Chinese automaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and the US' General Motors, ranked the first among Chinese carmakers in terms of November sales, according to the latest statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). The combined sales of China's top 10 carmakers in November reached 492,100 units, taking up 65 percent of the country's total. The 10 carmakers are Shanghai GM, FAW Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkswagen, BYD Auto, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, Chery Auto, Geely Auto, FAW Toyota and ChangAn Ford Mazda.

According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), the country's quality authority, Sweden-based auto maker Volvo Car Corp will recall 3,136 S80 sedans due to a windshield wiper problem. Volvo informed GAQSIQ of its decision to recall those cars because a deviation in the Central Electronic Module (CEM) software in its S80 model may cause the malfunction of the windshield wipers. Volvo will inspect the CEM for free and upgrade the related software.The recall order covers cars produced between Jan. 24, 2006 and Jun. 4, 2007, said the auto maker.
